"Our journey traces its roots back to the 1980s when our founders' parents, Carlos and Judy Dunford embarked on their entrepreneurial path as individual crafters. Later becoming successful boutique sponsors then establishing their first storefront, The Quilted Bear, in 1992.
In 2008, their son Darren took the helm by acquiring the Ogden Quilted Bear. Motivated by a desire to modernize while preserving his parents' legacy, he opened his inaugural Locals store in 2017 in Logan. Darren has since expanded the Locals brand, introducing two additional locations: one nestled in Layton Hills Mall in Layton and another at University Place in Orem.
What sets Locals apart is the emphasis on its vendors. At the heart of each Locals location are dedicated booths that showcase and sell handcrafted goods from local artisans, crafters, and creators. The commitment to highlighting and supporting local talent is woven into the fabric of every Locals establishment, making it a distinctive and community-driven retail experience."
